The Rider Waite Smith LIBER FLORUM Tarot (Liber Florum=Book of Flowers) is a vibrant rendition of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck with the addition of corresponding magical flowers and flowering plants. The flowers attributed to the cards in this deck are drawn mostly from the tables of correspondences from Aleister Crowley’s invaluable text,Liber777.These attributions were compiled/created originally by the founding members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and were intended to be shared only with initiated members of that order. After Crowley left the Golden Dawn he published the formerly “secret” documents and made them available to the public.
The Major Arcana are based directly on the original Golden Dawn correspondences, while the Minor Arcana are drawn from the flowers that correlate to the Sephiroth on the Tree of Life. Each Sephirah corresponds to a number from 1 to 10. We matched the flower assigned to the particular Sephirah number to the number of the Minor Arcana card. For example, the 3 of Swords is the cypress flower, which is the flower that corresponds to the third Sephirah, Binah. The Page, Knight, Queen and King have been assigned to other magical and symbolic flowers.
